My New Crocs

Now that I'm walking, we went to the shoe store to get me a good pair of shoes. We found the perfect pair of Tsukihoshi's - lightweight, flexible, breathable, machine washable, and most importantly anti-bacterial insoles for my stinky feet. Unfortunately, they didn't have my size in stock, so we had to order them. I'm exactly a size 5, but we ordered size 6 so I could have some growing room. On the way out, Daddy spied these Crocs and let me try them on. They're mine now, I walked out of the store in them.

Chris' 1st Birthday

Today, we went to Chris' 1st Birthday party. There were lots of people and lots of yummy food. Chris is the cake smashing

king. He obliterated his cake. I aspire to reach his greatness. Before we left, mommy and I crawled into the jump house. Soon, Chris, his mom, and one of his sisters joined us. It was a little frightening but fun.

I'm Walking!!!

Okay, Mommy says I'm a "toddler" now. I walked more than I crawled this past weekend. Mommy says everytime she turned around I was walking somewhere. I really surprised Daddy on Friday when I was testing out my new walker and pushed it right up to him, and Mommy said, "He really doesn't need that walker. He can walk. He just needs confidence to let go." Then, I immediately proceded to let go, turn around, and walk back to Mommy who was a good 10 feet away. Daddy was speechless. I realy like walking when Mommy & Daddy are watching me, then I can run the last few steps and dive into their arms and get lots of hugs, kisses, and praise. I also figured out how to climb onto our futon this weekend. Getting down is tougher, though.

11-Month Update

There haven't been too many milestones since last month. I've added signing "fan" to my language repertoire. I am taking many steps on my own, but I'm not quite a full-blown toddler yet. I walk best when I'm carrying something. I've been standing up at will for a while, but now I can pick things up while standing. I'm taking my time with the real walking - I want my parents to think they're still useful. I still have only 8 teeth. I pretty much boycott baby food for dinner, preferring whatever my parents are eating. I haven't turned away anything yet. I can now hand my mommy the Puff container when I want some. I still like chasing the cats, but my newest past-time is kicking my soccer ball around the livingroom. I also enjoying playing with my Leapfrog Music table. I'm sleeping through the night again and taking two naps a day.

Hillbilly Baby

My mommy and daddy call me their "redneck" baby cuz I like putting my feet on the table when we eat.

Outdoors w/ My Walk'n'Ride

Mommy bought me a new Step Smart Walk'n'Ride push toy to practice my walking. We took it outside and played in the backyard. I had a lot of fun. I'm also sporting my new leather puppy slippers, so I can walk in the grass to my hearts content without getting my footsies poked. Our kitty, E'bi, even came out to check out my new wheels and see what we were up to. She's a very curious cat. Mommy says she's also very brave cuz she lets me pet her. In my excitement, I'm not always that gentle with her, but I'm working on it. E'bi was mommy's baby before me, so she's always trying to snuggle up between me and mommy. When she does that, I try sit or lie on her. She's very soft. Our other kitty, Gizmo, runs away when I come near, so I don't get to play with her as much.

10-Month Update

I'm 10-months old today...

My powers of communication are expanding: I can sign "milk"; wave hi/bye; shake my head "no" when I'm full; say "uh oh", "ma ma", "da", and "ki kaa" (kitty cat); tap on someone's leg when I want their attention, and grab my parents' fingers when I want them to walk with me.

I'm still not willing to walk on my own, but I can stand by myself, cruise around furniture, and crawl quite quickly. Chasing the kitties is one of my favorite pasttimes. I also like opening cupboards and drawers.

I've got 8 teeth now. I'm still eating 4 containers of baby food, over a 1/2 cup of cereal, and ~30 ounces of formula everyday. I eat lots of Gerber puff treats which I can feed myself, and plenty of morsels of whatever mommy and daddy are eating including Lasagna, Thai/Malaysian noodles, Indian Curry potatoes, dim sum, and sushi roe. I'm also quite proficient at drinking ice water with a straw.

I pretty much sleep through the night from 8:30 to 7:30. Mommy says I talk in my sleep, and lately I've been waking up extra early so I can sleep with Mommy & Daddy.

Happy 9-Months to Me!!!

This week marks my 40th week of life on the outside. I've been living in the real world for as long as I was in Mommy's tummy. Today I had my 9-month check-up. It was a great appointment - NO SHOTS. Course, no stickers or books this time either. But I did get a clean bill of health. The doc says I'm doing great. I weigh 21 lbs 8 oz, and I'm 29-1/2 inches tall. My head circumference is 18-1/4". I dropped down to 65th percentile in weight on account I've been crawling and moving around so much, but I shot up to 80th percentile in height. Mommy is really worried that I'll be taller than her by the time I'm in kindergarten. Hee hee.

Cowboy in Training

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!! We went to the Texas Roadhouse for lunch. Mommy and Daddy had barbecue ribs and ribeye steak. They shared their rolls with cinnamon honey butter, green beans, and sweet potato with me. Everything was pretty tasty.

Solo Bath

Yesterday, I got to take a bath all by myself. Usually I take a bath with Daddy, but with my new bath ring to keep me safe, I got the whole tub to myself. I had fun splashing in the water and playing with my rubber dolphin and crab.

"Uh Oh"

It's official - "Uh Oh" is my first "word". I repeated it several times this morning. Unfortunately, Mommy wasn't quick enough with the video camera. I like to make her work for it. I'm being very finicky about repeating it. We'll see how long it takes for her to capture it on video.

Not one of my finest examples, but Mommy says getting video of me talking is harder than taking pictures of my teeth.
