Playdate in the Park

After getting my haircut this morning, eating breakfast, and picking up my new shoes, Mommy and I went to the park to meet up with the other 2006 Las Madres Working Mommies and kids. Maria and I are vying for the same toy while the two Chris's behind me search for goodies in the grass.

Afterwards, I went wandering around to test out my new shoes. First, I tried out a purposeful pace, then I went for a more somber stride.

After I wore myself out, I took a respite on the lawn. Before we left for the day, Mommy took me for a spin on the swing to completely wear me out. It did the trick because I fell asleep in the car and didn't wake until morning.

My First Haircut

Bed head first thing in the morning - I sure do need a haircut!

My New Crocs

Now that I'm walking, we went to the shoe store to get me a good pair of shoes. We found the perfect pair of Tsukihoshi's - lightweight, flexible, breathable, machine washable, and most importantly anti-bacterial insoles for my stinky feet. Unfortunately, they didn't have my size in stock, so we had to order them. I'm exactly a size 5, but we ordered size 6 so I could have some growing room. On the way out, Daddy spied these Crocs and let me try them on. They're mine now, I walked out of the store in them.

My latest trick . . .

Much to Mommy's dismay, I can climb the step stool all by myself!

Chris' 1st Birthday

Today, we went to Chris' 1st Birthday party. There were lots of people and lots of yummy food. Chris is the cake smashing

king. He obliterated his cake. I aspire to reach his greatness. Before we left, mommy and I crawled into the jump house. Soon, Chris, his mom, and one of his sisters joined us. It was a little frightening but fun.

I'm Walking!!!

Okay, Mommy says I'm a "toddler" now. I walked more than I crawled this past weekend. Mommy says everytime she turned around I was walking somewhere. I really surprised Daddy on Friday when I was testing out my new walker and pushed it right up to him, and Mommy said, "He really doesn't need that walker. He can walk. He just needs confidence to let go." Then, I immediately proceded to let go, turn around, and walk back to Mommy who was a good 10 feet away. Daddy was speechless. I realy like walking when Mommy & Daddy are watching me, then I can run the last few steps and dive into their arms and get lots of hugs, kisses, and praise. I also figured out how to climb onto our futon this weekend. Getting down is tougher, though.

11-Month Update

There haven't been too many milestones since last month. I've added signing "fan" to my language repertoire. I am taking many steps on my own, but I'm not quite a full-blown toddler yet. I walk best when I'm carrying something. I've been standing up at will for a while, but now I can pick things up while standing. I'm taking my time with the real walking - I want my parents to think they're still useful. I still have only 8 teeth. I pretty much boycott baby food for dinner, preferring whatever my parents are eating. I haven't turned away anything yet. I can now hand my mommy the Puff container when I want some. I still like chasing the cats, but my newest past-time is kicking my soccer ball around the livingroom. I also enjoying playing with my Leapfrog Music table. I'm sleeping through the night again and taking two naps a day.
